Welcome to Tucson!
The AZLP would like to offer you a warm welcome to Tucson - birthplace of the AZLP! Founded in 1775, Tucson was the state of Arizona's first capital. Today, Tucson is home to a vibrant community, rich in history and culture that encompasses a unique blend of Native American, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo-American influences. Tucson has a friendly, caring and laid-back (truly Libertarian) atmosphere, combined with the innovation and energy of a metropolitan region.
As 2022 marks the 50th year of the AZLP, we are very excited to be hosting our convention in Tucson this year, and encourage you to soak in all that Tucson has to offer while joining us for the 2022 AZLP State Committee Meeting & Convention!

Things To Do
Home to more than just saguaros and Sonoran hot dogs, Tucson, AZ has much to offer in culture and natural beauty where visitors can experience the Southwest as it was meant to be. In the heart of the Sonoran Desert, Tucson offers a modern perspective of the old west.
The city is home to a wide range of museums, historic sites, hiking trails, golf courses, and some of the most unique flora and fauna in the world, giving visitors plenty to do during their visit. From our gardens and zoos to our museums and university campus, Tucson’s unique beauty shines through our wide range of attractions.
Take in the Tucson Beauty
For an outdoor adventure like no other, look no further. Tucson is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, cyclists, and hiking fans alike.
Marvel at our majestic cactus forests at Saguaro National Park or go cliff diving and ruin exploring at Catalina State Park. Looking for something a bit...greener? Tee off at the Omni's gorgeous golf courses.
Be a Part of History
From the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui people to the Spanish missionaries and Mexican settlers, Tucson’s residents have always brought beauty, innovation, and connection to our community. Our historic sites, museums, and cultural festivals capture this history and look toward our future.
Witness the sacred beauty of Mission San Xavier del Bac, observe ancient Native American sites at Murray Springs and Signal Hill, and learn more about both at the Arizona History Museum.
Fun for the Entire Family
Tucson has plenty of kid-friendly things to do, so bring the whole family out for the AZLP State Committee Meeting & Convention! Say hello to your favorite desert critters at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or learn about gravity, anatomy, and so much more through the Children's Museum’s hands-on exhibits.
Treat Yourself
Tucson’s shopping scene offers everything from artisanal souvenirs to high-end wares.
If you’re looking for something a bit more calming and quiet, head to the Omni's spa, where experts will relax your senses and leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
Explore
Our clean air and clear, dark skies make us the "astronomy capital of the world." Explore the cosmos at one of the telescopes that top our mountains, reserve a spot at the Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter, or visit the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium at the University of Arizona.
With so much to see, do, and experience, you'll want to spend more than just a weekend down in Tucson with the AZLP!
